There are many security threats about that are trying to gain access to your computer and your sensitive information such as your bank details. It is very important that you take steps to help prevent this happening.

Security Advice

Make sure that your computer has got an internet security program suite that contains anti virus, spyware and firewall protection. You can get free versions of this software or you can buy Norton or McAfee security packages.

Run weekly scans for viruses to make sure there is no malicious software on your PC, you should be able to schedule these scans to run automatically when you set up your virus software.

Regularly check for any updates to your internet security software, new viruses are created all the time so you need to be as up to date as possble.

Never access or use your bank account details on a computer unless you are sure it has up to date security software and is virus free.

Email Security Advice

Never open an email attachment unless you know what it contains. If you can run a virus check on the attachment do so before opening.

Never click on a link in an email unless you are expecting it and know who it is from.

Never email any personal information or bank details, if you are being asked to do this it is a scam. Companys will never ask you to email sensitive information.

If you have any doubts about an email delete it.
